Last year Danish producer Galimatias and American singer Alina Baraz released the EP “Urban Flora”. Now, one of the songs off the album,“Pretty Thoughts”, has been remixed by French producer FKJ. As with most of his output, FKJ keeps things very smooth and soulful. Take a listen below and see which version you prefer.
The team over at the Moovmnt-collective are currently doing an interesting monthly series called “Werk Space” which focuses on rising producers from The Netherlands. The idea is to put the producer in a challenging, yet fruitful environment and see what kind of music comes out of it. For the second installment of the series, beatmaker Nick Moods was placed in Red Bull Music Academy’s Amsterdam studios with Belgian singer SIAM. The emerging results are deeply satisfying as Moods’ smoothed out, hip hop-inspired production perfectly compliments SIAM’s yearning vocals. Hopefully this isn’t the last time these two talented artists come together for a project.
Portia Monique is a soulful, American songstress on the rise and “Ain’t Scared of You” is the latest single from her self titled debut album released late last year. The track, originally produced by Oli Lazarus and Toni Economides, was recently remixed by the Swedish super producer Opolopo. I always take notice when I see Opolopo’s name on the credits and with this one I certainly wasn’t disappointed. While the original version is more funk driven, Opolopo laces the song with a delicious, deep house flavor which perfectly compliments Portia’s soulful vocals.
