Slakah is a Canadian musician and producer whose past work includes production for such artists as Drake and Divine Brown. His album, “Soul Movement Vol. 2”, will be released in January and he just dropped some pretty cool visuals for the track “Byram’s Groove (Cut A Rug)”. The track itself is a pretty dope, funk-infused jam and the accompanying video complements the music nicely. It’ s basically a montage of old Soul Train footage with dancers getting their groove on in the classic Soul Train line. Doesn’t get much funkier than that.
If this video has you feeling all Soul Train nostalgic then perhaps you should also check out “Soul Train: The Music, Dance and Style of a Generation”, the new book by Roots-drummer, Questlove, about the iconic tv show. I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet but it looks like a very interesting read. Soul Movement Vol. 2 will be released on BBE Records and can be pre-ordered via Slakah’s website right now.
